To be the best in our various industries and build our business networks.
The last working day in February 2018, I walked out of the bank, freshly resigned from my banking career, and then I thought, “Alright, time to get creative.” Then comes this wild idea — themed events, and clothing fused with a lifestyle. I know, I know… not exactly how most stories begin, but hey, that’s the truth.
Starting point: May 10, 2018.
I teamed up with a graphic designer, Neil John — and wow, did he deliver. Together, we created our very first masterpiece: The Statesman758 Logo. From there, things just started moving fast. One step led to another, and soon after, my brother and co-founder, Curtney Germaine, caught the vision too. That’s when the brand began spreading quickly across the youth in Saint Lucia.
2018 – 2019
We started small — photoshoots for the clothing line right at my parents’ restaurant, Plas Mouvma in Carellie. A month later, we leveled up with a product launch at Sandals Halcyon. Next came a New Year’s bash at Stony Hill, followed by our signature pool party, WET.
And just as the momentum was flowing… bam! COVID-19 hit in 2020.
2020 – Pivot Mode
Reform was inevitable. So, we adapted. We opened a Photography Studio and Event Center right in my hometown, Hillcrest Gardens, Castries. And since masks suddenly became fashion, we jumped on that wave too. Let’s just say… that venture kept the lights on.
2023 – 2025: Leadership Reform
Post-COVID, we closed the Studio and moved operations to Rodney Bay, Gros Islet. Around that time, Aaron Charles, joined the leadership team of Statesman758. With his expertise, we built something that needed to be done – our website, www.statesman758.com.
By April 2024, the site was live — still evolving, but already expanding. We even added a vehicle section, diving into buying, fixing, and selling cars.
So, what’s the biggest lesson through it all? In summary, God gave me the vision — but gave my team the details, because with my team, I was able to achieve things I could only dream about. For that, I’m deeply grateful to them and by extension my family, friends, customers, and everyone who’s ever played a role, because Statesman758 isn’t just a business, It’s a lifestyle.
At the end of the day:
“The people you associate with, say it all.”
So, there you have it — the short version. But no, this isn’t the end. To be continued …
